Starbucks in Vegas
Saturday December/04 14:19
Went to Starbucks on the strip today, traffic seems to be slower during the day than at night. Weird.
I think that I must attract disaffected people like flypaper. The gentleman in the next table asked the time. He had a British accent, and I tried to identify exactly where he was from. I thought Liverpool - he was from Manchester.
He remarked - unsolicited. HONEST! - that he had been in Argentina for three weeks and was catching up on his world events. He gestured insolently at the New York Times in his hand, and shrugged, "Doesn't appear to be any different than when I left."
I agreed, and said something to the effect that there was now 12,000 more troops in Iraq than when the invasion took place. He said, "Please, tell me you're joking!"
I assured him I was not. Then almost simultaneously we both uttered "Iran". The conversation went on for a few minutes, and suffice it to say he was disaffected by Tony Blaire as much as I am with Bush.
It seems that the foreigners have our number, but why don't the Americans?
BUILD BUILD BUILD
Friday December/04 16:10
A note from my current employer. They want a build by Sunday Night, and the communications subsystem - much less the two daemon programs aren't even started yet!
Went to Luxor & Excalibur last night and enjoyed 4 hours with the family for less than $100. We can be cheap when necessary! Some pictures may migrate into the blog.
December in Las Vegas
Wednesday December/04 15:05
As I begin the first official DuckBites ® blog, I sit in my RV in Las Vegas. Total Sin CIty, and it's a blast to be here.
The next RV over was inhabited by a couple of Canadians from British Columbia. They noticed the "www.freeme.org" on my RV, and queried us about it.
After extensive conversation, they mentioned that they were outraged by the action of the US Government and its lumber tariff. Turns out the gov wants to give that money - at their expense - to their competitors!
Just another DuckBite, in this case affecting our Northern neighbors.
