Oh Canada!
We made it to Wayne's house in Whitby, Ontario on Tuesday - 3 days ago.

Immigration at the border was a nightmare. There were two lines. In the left line, an argument broke out between the official and some people trying to get into Canada. The official, clearly, did not think it necessary to be diplomatic or even polite. She ripped into the "customer" quite well.

Their situation seemed to be fairly complicated. A biker-like father, visiting his kid in Canada. Old wife was the one who got into an argument.

Both lines ended at the same time, and we tried to avoid that irate clerk. Unfortunately, the other one was no better.

Just the day before, we had gone to Niagara Falls, and had no problems whatever. They asked perfunctory questions, and let us through.

This time, at a crossing only a couple miles down river, we got the third degree. Telling the truth is probably not a good idea, I guess.

Since no birth certificates had been required of the children the day before, we had taken them to NH to put in safer storage. BIG MISTAKE!

I guess they want to ensure we're not kidnapping children and spiriting them into Canada, or something. They questioned not only my wife and me repeatedly, but they also questioned the two older children!

I'm sure they were REALLY confused when they asked about school - since we're homeschooling!

She said, over and over and over, how we could NOT use Canadian schools & services, and how I was not to work and so on. Ad nauseam.

They seemed to be concerned that we said we're moving from OR to NH. Like we're homeless and living in the RV or something. Half of that is true. Since we now have two offers, both will be true any day now! Either way, what a fiasco!

Whatever. Drove to Wayne's place, and was blown away by the property! 3.5 acres in the middle of suburbia. 150 year old house. The barn is three times the size of our house in Oregon. Magnificent landscaping. Just a gem.

Of course, this screws everything up. Jean now doesn't want a dome, but a Victorian instead. *sigh*

I'm finishing up work from the states. Xmas is tomorrow, and then back to work.
